PRESIDENT & CEO
Shavon Arline-Bradley

On behalf of the members of the Mitchellville-Bowie Section of the National Council of Negro Women, Inc.,
it gives me great pleasure to welcome you to our website.

It is my esteemed honor and privilege to serve as President of the Mitchellville-Bowie Section.

With nearly 200 members, we are deeply rooted in a legacy of activism and guided by the vision, fearless commitment, and transformational leadership of our Founder, Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune. Our mission is to lead, advocate for, and empower women of African descent, their families, and our communities. Through our commitment to community engagement, we address diverse needs by providing meaningful programs to support the residents of Prince George’s County, Maryland and surrounding areas.

Also known as an "organization of organizations,” we are dedicated to enhancing the lives of those we serve by fostering strong community partnerships and collaborating with Sister Sections and affiliates. Our efforts align with NCNW Inc.’s key National Programs, which focus on:

  • Economic Empowerment & Entrepreneurship
  • Eight-State/All-State
  • Health Equity
  • S.T.E.A.M. & Education
  • Bethune-Height Changemaker Pathways

Through these initiatives, we strive to create lasting impact and empower individuals within our area.

The Mitchellville-Bowie Section actively supports a range of section-specific programs and initiatives. We host voter registration volunteer trainings and conduct voter registration drives to encourage civic engagement. Additionally, we donate food and supplies to a local HBCU’s nutrition lounge and provide essential items to local shelters.

Our Section is also committed to educational support, donating supplies to our adopted schools and organizing a yearly essay program for middle school students. We promote health awareness through dedicated events and regularly volunteer at local food banks. Furthermore, we provide comfort items to breast cancer warriors and menstrual hygiene products to local schools, reinforcing our commitment to community wellness and support.

I invite you to explore our website for additional opportunities to connect with us and to get involved with the Mitchellville-Bowie Section’s programs and events.

In Service,
