Lead, develop and advocate for women of African descent as they support their families and communities.
Membership: Chair, Tavia McClam-King
Keeps an accurate record of all section members information, conducts annual membership drives; makes recommendations to increase membership, prepares membership reports to the National Office each year; to assist in implementing the Section’s requests for activities to increase membership.
Outreach: Co-Chairs, Leslie Johnson & Michelle Hawkins
Implements activities, programs, and/or events to help meet the needs of the community and support the efforts of our youth, educating and sharing valuable information pertaining to life and Health.
Ways & Means: Chair, Vicky Stanley
Receives oversight from the Second Vice President. Shall ascertain from the Finance Committee the financial needs of the Section for the current year; Propose fund raising activities for the purpose of meeting the financial needs of the Section. Each year, is responsible for planning at least two (2) activities.
Communications: Chair, Winona Toland Peterson
Develops and maintains Social Media sites and serves as support to website developers to ensure up to date website postings. Committee seeks to keep the community informed of section events, NCNW national news, member highlights, and fundraising events. These are vital communication tools that strive to strengthen awareness of community programs and the positive activities that the Mitchellville-Bowie Section (MB) of the NCNW support.
Education: Chair, Sheila Craig-Whiteman
Implements activities, programs and/or events which help to stimulate the intellectual, vocational, or educational interests of members and the youth of Prince Georges County Communities.
Elections/Nominations: Chair, Shaunta Mitchell
Shall consist of three financial members who will be appointed by the President to oversee the election process. She could appoint the same three members who served on the Nominating Committee to now carry out the responsibility of the Election Committee. The committee will prepare the election ballot, distribute and collect them at the May election meeting. The results will be confirmed by the committee and announced at the May meeting. Section members running for an office cannot serve on the Election Committee.
Social Committee: Chair, Tracy Bagley
Develops, plans, and implements, during each fiscal year, at least one social event for Section members. The purpose of the NCNW Mitchellville-Bowie section’s Social Committee is to allow sisters to come together to exhale, relax, release, indulge, let loose and have fun together, while networking and building bonds and friendships.
Social Justice: Chair, Juanita Hawkins
To address social justice issues within our community and assist with the national agenda.
Planning Session: Chair, Ricarda Mason
Brings together the members of the section to discuss proposed events and activities for the upcoming section year. Members have gathered virtually, locally or traveled a distance away in a conference setting to plan and evaluate events and budgets for the section.
